Made with organic Saddleback pork and crunchy, hot-water pastry, Brockleby’s Organic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie has been winning critical acclaim from both customers and food industry experts.Brockleby’s pie won top honours in the Local Food category of the prestigious Quality Food Awards in November last year. Judges paid tribute to the pie’s quality ingredients, describing them as “impressively organic and good on provenance”. The pie was also a finalist in the recent Made in Britain awards, organised by Waitrose and Country Living Magazine.Brockleby’s Organic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie is made to a 200-year-old recipe using local ingredients, including organic Saddleback pork raised by farmer Richard Mee, of Hathern, Leicestershire. The crunchy, hot-water pastry is made from flour ground at Whissendine Windmill, in Leicestershire.
Brockleby’s, of Asfordby Hill, Melton Mowbray, makes the only organic Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, which now has protected geographical status. Under EU law passed last year, only pork pies made in the region can bear the town’s name.
